| History
:: Late Shri R. C. Patel, founder
of PBW was one of the first entrepreneurs
to set up manufacturing facilities at Rajkot.
Established in 1948 as a small foundry,
PBW started its operations by producing
castings for brass items.
In 1953, a small workshop was added to
manufacture brass buttons, tumblers and
strainers. In 1956, PBW switched over to
producing manual cooking machines. In 1958-59,
the first industrial estate of the country
was setup by the then Saurashtra Government.
PBW was amongst first to shift its manufacturing
to this historic industrial estate. By 1965,
PBW gained significant experience in casting
and finishing of nonferrous components.
Around this time, there was a need of developing
critical components like
bimetal bearings,
which was identified by PBW then. Initially these
were made for slow speed diesel engines.
However in 1980, high grade precision bearings
were introduced for high speed engines,
compressors and earthmovers. PBW was first
to
substitute import of bearings for the
country in 1990.
Around 1990 PBW ventured into export trading
of specialized engineering spares for engines,
compressors, purifiers and pumps for marine
application.
With a view to meet the increased demand,
copper lead strip sintering plant was setup
in 1992 to manufacture thin wall bearings.
In 1997, PBW was accredited with ISO 9002.
